The course “Ericsson GSM System Survey” focuses on providing participants with knowledge about Ericsson’s GSM based systems, GSM 800/900/1800/1900. The course focuses on GSM terminology, wireless concepts, functions of network nodes, and the Ericsson implementation of those network nodes.
On completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
Ø Describe the GSM network at an overview level
Ø Describe Ericsson’s implementation of a GSM network
Ø Understand the basic concepts of wireless communication
Ø Outline the main features of the air interface in GSM networks
Ø Describe basic AXE principles and the main components and features
Ø Describe each node’s function in the GSM Switching System
Ø Describe BSS Components, their functions, features and required specifications
Ø Describe the function of the GSM Mobile Station
Ø Describe the interaction between network elements in different traffic cases
Ø Describe cell planning principles in GSM networks
Ø Describe the tools used for preparation and maintenance functions in GSM networks
Ø Describe the subscriber services offered by GSM
Ø Outline the charging system in GSM networks
Ø Describe the future functionality of GSM based systems
Ø Describe the possible functionality of GSM based systems
The participants should be familiar with the GSM System or equivalent knowledge.
The target audience for this course is intended for personnel requiring a technical introduction to Ericsson’s GSM systems.
